On Saturday, the 10th of February 2024, the basketball court in Reinickendorf, Berlin, echoed with the cheers and competitive spirit of the UPAA Germany – Füchse Berlin Pinoy Basketball Tournament. Eight teams, hailing from both Berlin and out of town, including Füchse Basketball Berlin, passionately battled for supremacy throughout the entire day.
The tournament showcased the diverse basketball talent of the Filipino community, with eight teams representing Berlin (Thunders, Berlinoy, Chopsuey, Berlin Capitals, and Füchse Berlin), Hamburg (FCH Hamburg), Brandenburg, and Grünheide. The competition reached its pinnacle in a final showdown between the Berlin Capitals and FCH Hamburg, leaving spectators on the edges of their seats.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all participating teams for their unwavering dedication and sportsmanship. We applaud the outstanding individuals named to the Mythical Five, whose stellar performances added to the tournament’s excitement, namely – Brendan Heibges and Dennis Redondo (FCH Hamburg), as well as Mark Zapanta and Pavel Claus (Berlin Thunders), and Nelvin Navarra (Berlin Capitals), who was also recognized as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
We express our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this event – from the players and volunteers to the passionate supporters who filled the venue with energy, as well as our partner in this event, Füchse Basketball Berlin.
